Towards a common Simple Query Protocol for Learning Object Repositories

The CEN ISSS workshop on learning technologies started a new work item on “Interoperability of Repositories for Learning Resources”.

The project team includes Bernd Simon, Frans Van Assche, David Massart, Michel Arnaud and my humble self. The slides I presented last week in Madrid give a little bit of background and present the basic planning.

The bottom line? We will deliver a specification for a “simple query protocol” by end of this month. We will have our repositories (Celebrate, Educanext and Ariadne) support it by end of June. Discussions with other Learning Object Repositories are underway and we expect to have more ready by end of June. I am very excited about this initiative…

Why do you want to develop a new query protocol?
Why don’t you use,as an example, OAI, expanding it’s original metadata set?

    Thank you
